Party Slush

This is an alcoholic slush my mother has made for many years. She uses 5 cups of water and boils in a saucepan for 1 minute. She then adds 1 1/2 cups sugar or 3/4 cup splenda. Next she adds one 12 oz frozen lemonade unsweetened, one 12oz can frozen OJ unsweetened concentrate, 2 cups unsweetened grapefruit juice, and 2 1/2 cups vodka or gin. She mixes all the ingredients together and freezes to a slush. She reminds me to stir often during the freezing process to keep the slush from crystalizing. To serve, fill a glass 3/4 full with slush and add 7-up.

I don't have gin or vodka on hand so I am experimenting with this recipe a little bit. I do have a small bottle of Jose Quervo leftover from when I made Rachel Ray's Tequila Chicken recipe. I think I will substitute that instead of the gin or vodka.

I microwaved 2 1/2 cups water to boiling (5 minutes) and added 3/4 cup splenda. I couldn't find any unsweetened lemonade concentrate at the grocery store here in town, so I substituted lemon juice from concentrate (1 cup). I still included the whole container of frozen OJ concentrate, all 12 oz and only 1 cup of unsweetened grapefruit juice. I also added 1 15oz can of crushed pineapple and poured in approximately 1 cup of Jose Quervo (all that was leftover from the Tequila Chicken recipe) and put in the freezer. I hope it turns out!
